Blogs get hotter, video blogs get cooler
The Wall Street Journal Online for January 2 and 3, 2005 ran two stories on blogging. The first story, sourced from the Associated Press, reported on the surge in blog readership in 2004 as based on a Pew Internet and American Life Project study on “The State of Blogging.” The second story, “Video Blogs Break Out With Tsunami Scenes” by Antonio Regalado and Jessica Mintz, described the impact on Weblogs that host videos of the Indian Ocean tsunami catastrophe. Among the blogs mentioned that are running videos of the tsunami are
- Cheese and Crackers by Jordan Golson
- Pundit Guy
- WaveofDestruction.org by Geoffrey Huntley

The Media Bloggers Association, credited by Pundit Guy with saving his site from a bandwidth usage charge of $1,000, also launched a Tsunami Video Hosting Initiative on January 3, 2005.
