New release of Metadata Extraction Tool from the National Library of New Zealand
The National Library of New Zealand has released version 3.2 of its Metadata Extraction Tool as open-source software. According to the SourceForge project page, the tool was designed to “programmatically extract preservation metadata from a range of file formats like PDF documents, image files, sound files Microsoft office documents, and many others,” then output the metadata in an XML format for further processing.
